A Small Town Grieves
I’m not sure if you’ve heard but my small hometown of Prescott, AZ is going through a very difficult time right now.
Like Colorado, our area has been ravaged by a number of serious wild fires this summer.
On Sunday June 30th, nineteen of our own boys, part of an elite firefighting team called the Granite Mountain Hotshots were killed fighting a fire in Yarnell, AZ.
So far, we’ve been informed that three on this team were my patients and their dental records have been requested for identification purposes.
In a town the size if Prescott, you can’t find a single person who hasn’t been directly affected by this tragedy.
Our town is grieving.
Last night, I attended an impromptu memorial service that was held at the Prescott High School football field. Over 5,000 residents showed up.
Together we prayed, sang, cried, comforted one another and said our goodbyes to the young men who paid the ultimate price to keep our community safe.
My heart swelled with pride as I witnessed our small community rally to support the families of the young heroes.
I ask that you all pause and reflect on all that you have to be grateful for, and to hug your loved ones tight tonight.
